Heavy Sigh....

What a day. For some reason unknown to us, while morphine makes Phil all some kind of happy, it keeps him wide awake, and we were watching movies until past one in the morning! He finally nodded off, but I was not so lucky. Thank goodness for a view from the room. And a nice sunrise. Today was a steady stream of medical people - all wonderful and helpful, but by now at the end of the day, I feel like my mental computer screen was screaming "Out of Memory". Phil is doing very well. He spent the night in the ICU so he could be fully monitored. After he had visits from all his attending departments, they decided he could try to drink, eat, and the nutritionist set us up with a tube feed. Who knew there was so much involved with a gastrostomy. They have now moved us up to the 9th floor, and if his tummy continues to hurt less and less and all looks good, we'll head for home tomorrow.
Heart clinic next week and we'll also take out some of sutures then. I will be up to my A-list in appointments for the next few weeks, and methinks September 7th will be here way before we are ready. We're just going to try and squeeze in a few more fun things, before we have to walk through the next "mod".
I will continue to post updates on Phil and his trip here, if for no other reason, for me as a cathartic, and for Phil as a validation of all the crap he has to go through just to do things we take for granted - and less. He is such a cool kid, and I'm lucky to be his mom.
Thanks for all the words of encouragement - Phil has been able to check out the comments on the computer and was quite pleased. We'll keep you posted!
